The Trestle House Inn Bed and Breakfast is a Waterfront Inn and was originally built in 1972 as a retreat for a wine-maker and developer. The Inn is located on five acres and is surrounded on three sides by water with a lake refuge above and behind the viewing deck.

Upon entering the Inn you will be immediately surprised at its size. Massive California Redwood beams that originally were used as bridge trestles belonging to the Southern Railway Company highlight the spacious interior. The timbers were cut from Redwoods estimated to be over 460 years old.

From the viewing deck, located behind the Inn, guests can view an incredible and diverse array of wildlife in their natural habitat. Bald Eagles, Osprey, and other birds of prey and waterfowl are very abundant. During the migration season, many guests have been able to check off many birds on their Bird Life List.

The main road to the Inn, Soundside Road, is part of the North Carolina Biking Highway and the pond behind the inn is part of the Albemarle Canoe & Small Boat Trails System. Many guests have paddled into the historic district from the inn. This water trail has been used for the East Coast Flat-Water Championships, the largest flat-water canoe & kayak race of North Carolina.

Edenton was the original Colonial capital of North Carolina and is known as the "South's Prettiest Little Town". To this day the town retains the elegant charm of a bygone era including many of the most beautiful older homes in the country including North Carolina's oldest Courthouse.
